Spiritual Life

Our teachers are passionate about showing students how to have an active walk with Jesus.

Safe in Him

Key text: 2 Samuel 22:2-3

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
My God is my rock, in Whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my Savior.

2 Samuel 22:2-3 NLT

Daily Worship

Every class starts each day with worship to set the focus for the day on Jesus. Teachers use a variety of sources including daily devotional books, short worship videos, or object lessons to engage students to think about their walk with Jesus in a practical way. At times, students lead out in worship in their classrooms. At other times, our local pastors regularly visit each classroom to lead worship, too.

Buddy Worship

Our Buddy Worship program is a truly unique feature that only OAKS offers. Each classroom partners with another classroom for the entire year. At the beginning of the year, teachers pair individual students from both classrooms to form buddy worship groups. The older students lead personal devotionals for their worship buddy every other Wednesday, teaching them through stories, poems, activities, and prayer. In addition, buddy worship groups sit together every Friday at our school-wide chapel. Through the Buddy Worship program at OAKS, God has blessed our student culture and paved the way for our students to mentor others, growing in Jesus together.

Bible Instruction

Each class has at least 30-45 minutes of dedicated time to study God’s Word with their peers, learning from the stories and teachings God has given us in the Bible. Each teacher has been trained in the NAD’s Encounter curriculum and uses many of the teaching strategies and philosophies in their daily instruction. To learn more about our Bible curriculum, visit the Adventist Education website. Outside of Bible class, teachers connect lessons across the curriculum with aspects of God and His plan of salvation for us.

Weekly Chapel

Every Friday morning, our entire school body gathers in the Sanctuary to worship together and be challenged to grow in their walk with Jesus. During chapel, our students lead worship music, recite Scripture, perform special music and act. After the student-led portion of chapel is complete, pastors and other youth leaders from our community speak to the students and share God’s Word in creative and impactful ways.

Week of Prayer

Every class starts each day with worship to set the focus for the day on Jesus. Bible Studies

Throughout the year, students are given the opportunity to have Bible studies and study for baptism.
